Joanne Lau is a former neuroscientist and stand-up comedian. She is an alumni of the BBC Writersroom Comedy Room and BBC New Talent Hotlist 2017, and has been a finalist for the BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Forum (TV Drama), Royal Court Theatre/Kudos Writing Fellowship, Cinequest Teleplay 60, Canneseries/MipTV In Development, Felix Dexter Bursary, Sitcom Mission, and Funny Women Awards. Her credits include: Silverpoint (CBBC), East Mode (Comedy Central), Theodosia (HBO Max/CBBC), Music Time (Netflix), Big Tree City (Netflix), Ted’s Top Ten (CITV), Specs (Lupus Films/ Apple TV), Class Dismissed (CBBC), Misguided Meditations (BBC Radio 4), Sketchtopia (BBC Radio 4), Drop the Dead Panda (BBC Radio 4), The Kentucky Meat Shower (Sphinx 30/New Earth Theatre), Tuesday at the Library (Moongate Productions/Omnibus Theatre) and Love by Numbers (Routledge Anthology of Short Plays with Great Roles for Women). She is currently working on several exciting projects for screen with Sky/The Forge, Disney/Blink Industries, Sprout Pictures, Brock Media, Threewise Entertainment, Dancing Fox and Tyke Films.
